Inaugurated in 1997, the Vale de Lobo Royal Golf Course was designed by top American golf architect Rocky Roquemore, based on the original drawings of Sir Henry Cotton. Recognized as one of Portugal's most prestigious golf courses, its features include the almost inland green of the 9th and the famous 16th, with cliff-top carryover - one of the most photographed holes in Europe.
The Vale do Labo Ocean Course, composed of the two original 9-hole golf courses designed by Sir Henry Cotton, features gently undulating fairways which run alongside nature reserve before leading gently down to the shores of the Atlantic. Its emblematic holes are two challenging and spectacular par-4s, the 11th and the 14th, and the par-3 15th, which runs alongside the beach.
South Course is the crown jewel of Quinta do Lago. Designed in 1974 by William Mitchell, who introduced American-standard greens, tees, and bunkers to the Algarve. Soon, the course gained a prestigious reputation and became a flagship in the European Tour Course. A favorite among European tour players, the 6,500-meter par 72 is set among umbrella pines, lakes, and wild flowers, overlooking the serene Ria Formosa National Park.
At the time of its creation, the Victoria Golf Course was hailed as the most ambitious golf project Portugal had ever witnessed. Designed by true golfing legend Arnold Palmer, there is absolutely no doubt that it has lived up to that lofty billing. Covering some 90 hectares, the venue encompasses one of the most complete golf complexes in Europe and features an exceptional driving range and a putting green of some 2,500 m2.
In the heart of Vilamoura lies the Grande Dame of Algarve courses, The Old Course Golf Club.
