Access GTE team as our newest ambassador. With a storied career spanning decades, Bob
brings unparalleled expertise, insight, and a passion for golf.
Bob’s journey in golf began at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania, where he served as
Head Golf Professional for an astounding 37 years. His tenure at Oakmont, starting at the age
of 20 and rising to the role of head pro by 25, speaks volumes about his dedication and talent.
Bob's leadership extended to the equally prestigious Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach for 21
years, further solidifying his status as a revered figure in the golfing community.
Bob has garnered numerous awards and accolades throughout his career, including the
prestigious Bob Jones Award in 2017 and induction into the PGA of America Hall of Fame in
2005. Not only known for his administrative prowess, Bob's playing abilities have also left an
indelible mark on the sport. He is a multiple Pennsylvania Opens winner and notably placed
26th in the 1983 U.S. Open while overseeing the merchandise tent, a feat unmatched by any
other host pro since.
Beyond his achievements, Ford's true legacy lies in the young golf professionals he has
mentored, approximately 50 of whom have become head professionals at other clubs. His
commitment to nurturing talent and fostering the next generation of golfing stars is unmatched.
Even in retirement, Bob continues to be a significant presence in the golfing world. Invited by
the USGA to serve as the starter for the U.S. Open for as long as he desires, Bob remains an
influential figure in the sport. Additionally, his invaluable contributions to Team TaylorMade since
2001, as a member of their Presidential Advisory Board, showcase his ongoing dedication to
advancing the game.
